Twilights Kristen Stewart, Retro?... Not so much.

Kristen is mostly known for her edgy style in real life and in the Twilight Saga movies (also she is my personal hair/makeup inspiration for everyday). Then the other day I stumbled across this darling photo of her, in retro uniform and I thought this has to count for something! So Now Very Vintage has opened up into a wider scale and its called Very -not so- Vintage. So with out further adue here is how to get the edgy Miss. Kristen Stewart's look; hair and makeup.

Makeup!
Day Time Look:

Face:
Kristen has beautiful skin, so start with a tinted moisturizer as foundation. You may mix foundation and non-pore clogging lotion and use as tinted moisturizer. (after the rest of makeup is done) Pinch cheeks for a pretty but natural glow.

Eyes:
  • Curl eye lashes.
  • Use a cream colored eye shadow on three fourths of your eye lid close to the lash line(from the inner corner out).
  • Next use a chocolate [dark] brown eye liner and line the outer corner of the eye three fourths of the way in on both bottom and top lashes (softer line on the bottom lashes) making the line thicker on the outer most part of the eye.
  • After that use a matching cholcoate brown shadow (on the outer corner of the eye) on top  of the liner, gently smudging to a smolder.
  • Curl Lashes again.
  • Apply mascara on both top and bottom lashes.
Lips:
Apply favorite lip balm.

Brows[optional]:
fill in brows with a medium brown color and brush upwards then smooth over.

Night Time Look:

 *working off look above:

Face:
take a matte lip stick or blush stick in a brown-ish pink color and apply under cheek bones and blend well.

Eyes:
  • Take a gray/purple/black colored eye shadow and apply over lash line and dramatically wing out.
  • Next Take a brownish gray (with shimmer) and use that from lash line all the way until the crease using that to blend the first color.
  • Next blend, make sure to extent out to a wing.
  • Finally use a light reflecting white color under the eye brow as a highlight.
Lips:
Apply a sheer pink lip gloss.

Hair!
Day Time Look:

Prep:
Before getting into the shower, brush hair until free of knots and tangles (will not brush hair after the shower).
  • In the shower:Make sure that you are using a shampoo that will not weigh down hair, use a normal shampoo. Use a very tiny amount of conditioner from mid way to the ends of hair.
  • Do not brush hair once of the the shower it will decrease any natural wave.
  • Towel dry hair until damp, apply styling gel sparingly through out hair.
  • Let air dry.
  • If you are blow drying use the cool setting and no not brush or try to part hair.
Styling:
  1. Turn on flat iron.
  2. Apply heat protectant.
  3. Take iron and very loosely curl random pieces of hair until satisfied with outcome.
  4. Notice in picture her hair is not touching her forehead, pull hair back and hair spray front root area.
  5. Lightly coat entire head with touchable hold hair spray.

Elizabeth Montgomery - Bewitched - Makeup

 "Elizabeth Montgomery in... Bewitched!"
Well Ol' Liz really look beautiful all the time, but to me she is not a "model" pretty she is a real live pretty, one that you see walking down the street, and i think that is just the type of pretty that every one can shoot for, becase not every one can be a model. I think this 50's/60's look is very wearable for today.
Day Time Look:
Face:
Liz has a very glowy complexion, so use sheer foundation with illuminating flakes in it or high light the highest parts of your face using a high lighting paste (high points on a face: lower foreheProxy-Connection: keep-alive
Cache-Control: max-age=0

, bridge of nose, chin, brow bones and cheek bones). Cover any blemishes with concealer of your choice. Cover the lid up to the brow bone with a makeup base/primer.

Eyes:
Use a nude shadow that matches your skin tone all over the lid and in the crease as well. Then use waterproof liquid liner to thinkly line the eye lashes, hold eye closed by the eye lashes to get a clean line all the way across, then with eye still closed extend the line (aprox. 2mm) past the end of your lashes. Next, to give a more 60's retro feel use a matte black khole eye pencil and go over the liquid liner but don't line over the wing (extension of the line). Curl lashes and add two coats of mascara on both the top and bottom lashes.

Lips:
Liz has super soft (looking) lips so prep lips with lip balm. Then choose a pink based (sheer) red and apply one coat. touch up lips using your foundation, use a brush and closely out line the outer part of the lips with foundation. If you don't get it click here

Cheeks:
sticking with the glowy look choose a peachy color and apply to lightly to the apples of your cheeks and carry it through under the cheek bones.

Hope you all enjoy this!

Pan Am Makeup - "The Maggie" - 60's Glamour Girl

Night Time look of "The Maggie" [Christina Ricci] from Pan Am

Day Time look of "The Maggie" filming Pan Am

The Maggie:
This glamor girl is a sassy experienced stewardess who is ready for any thing they can throw at her. She is friendly, sweet and sexy, here is how to get her look; "The Maggie":

Day Time Look:
Face:
Cover dark circles and blemishes with your choice of concealer and cover entire face with a light coverage foundation. Prime eyes with a thick matte sticky base (like: Makeup Base from Bella Pierre cosmetics).

Eyes:
~ Shadow - Take a sheer lavender (for darker eyes) or light green (for other colored eyes) and place a small amount in the crease moving the brush in small half circle movements. Then take a pearlized white with flakes of purple (if you used purple) or green (if you used green), place that under the eye brown and onto the brow bone and blend well.
~Liner - Then use a cream or gel eye liner (with an eye liner brush) and line eye with eye open starting at the middle of the eye moving outward (making it thicker as you go) then thining out to a point at the outer corner of your eye. Use the left over to line as thin as possible in the inner corner. Take the tiniest bit more and line the lower lashes about 3/4 of the way from the outer corner. {if you are using liquid liner watch this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=414rIJdNYog }

Pan Am Makeup - "The Laura" - 60's City Girl

The Laura:
This is the Character "Laura" [Margot Robbie] from Pan Am

Laura is an inexperienced Pan Am trainee. In the first episode her hair and makeup are superb in the picture shown above she is getting ready to marry at the age of 23 years, then she runs out on her own wedding to be a Pan Am stewardess. Her makeup is interesting for the 60's, it has no wing but it looks classy and clean cut. So here is how to do "The Laura":

Day Time Look:

Face:
She has very perfect skin so cover any dark circles or blemishes with any type of concealer you would like and then cover over with a full coverage, very *matte but not dry foundation (like: Lasting finnish - 25 hour foundation by Rimmel London). Prime the eyes with what ever makeup base you would like.
*matte: adj. - no shine.

Eyes:
Take matte champaign shadow and cover the center of the eye lid and under the eye brow blend into the brow bone. Next Take a matte black gel or cream liner (like: Cream Liner by E.l.f.), hold eye closed by hold eye lashes gently down to the skin under the eye. With the liner, line the top lashes making the line thin in the inner corner ticker in the center and thin again in the outer corner, but don't wing out! Take the left over liner and line 3/4 of the way in form the outer corner of the bottom lashes. Curl lashes and add your choice of mascara.

Cheeks:
Use a cream to power blush in a brown based pale pink, place under cheek bones blend with bush very well.

Lips:
Choose a icy pink color with a sheer matte finish (like: Rimmel London's renew moister lip stick in 300 rose blush)

Brows (optional):
Choose a medium brown shade and shade in your brows using light strokes. Folow the picture above for shaping.

For Night Time:
working off of the look above

+ Ticken up the liner all the way around
+ Add a light brown to the crease of your lid
+ Add more blush
+ Curl lashes once more
+ Add one more coat of mascara.

Hope you like it! Don't forget to add a "thought" at the bottom!
Thanks!

Pan Am Makeup - "The Kate" - 60's natural look

The Kate:
This is the Character "Kate" [Kelli Garner] from Pan Am

At first my favorite character was "Maggie" [Christina Ricci] but then i got to know the characters a little more and Kate, as shown above is more like me in many ways; body type (minus the hight) and personality. Plus her makeup looks classy, natural and still attractive. So here is the how to for what I am going to call "The Kate":
Day Time Look:
Face:
Start by covering you face with moisturizer, then use a light, matte foundation (like: Fit Me! by Maybelline) if needed. Next cover dark circles under eyes and any other blemishes. Add a small amount of foundation on eye lids to clear skin of veins.

Eyes:
Take a matte gel or cream liner (like: Cream Liner by eyes lips face (e.l.f.)) in black or very dark brown. Hold eye closed by gently placing  a finger on eye lashed, next line the lash line making the line thin at the inner corner and (a tiny bit) thicker towards the outer corner following the lashes. Open eye and curl eye lashes carefully not to mess up the line. Look straight forward into the mirror, place applicator (or brush) at the end of the line you have already made and follow the outer most lashes to make the perfect most natural cat eye. [if you have no idea what i am talking about watch this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hrd2TwlANXA] No shadow for the day time. And finally add mascara.

Cheeks:
Take a nude pink-ish lip stick and lightly dot it on the cheek bones from the apples to (under) the temples. Bend very well for a matte but dewy look.

Lips:
Use the same color that you used on the cheeks on your lips or use a clear but matte lip balm.
Night Time Look:
Working off the look above;
~Add shimmery champlain colored eye shadow to the lid and a nude-ish brown to the crease
~Add Fruit punch/ cherry red gloss to lips
~ Open up eyes by curling once more before going out the door (if you curl lashes with mascara on the curl lasts longer)

Hope this is helpful! I will try to do one for each character (one down three to go)

xoxo,
Cat
