A Very 60's Summer

So I was watching The Help and if you haven't seen it you have to watch it! Hair, makeup and costumes are perfection trough out the entire film. Then I heard Haley Reinhart's new song "Free" and the video was awesome very retro chic. Then I watched the behind the scenes for her new album "Listen Up!" and so cute! So this look is like a summer version of an early 60's look! (you can't tell in the picture but I look tan in real life) So here is the how to for both hair and makeup. By the way; list of products I used are at the end.

~Hair~
  1. Wash hair as you normally do in shower.
  2. Towel dry about 50% of the way.
  3. Let your hair air dry about 20% more (70% dry).
  4. Make a deep side part and separate hair into 3 equal sections; the back, the left side and the right side.
  5. braid each of the sections and let them sit over night.
  6. In the morning shake out the braids and curl any pieces that are too "crimpy" looking.
  7. Backcomb the front of your bangs into a colic-y looking thing (picture above).
  8. Then hairspray.

~Makeup~
  1. Start by using a face lotion with SPF all over your face.
  2. Take a liquid foundation one shade lighter than your skin and apply in the under eye area.
  3. Then cover up any blemishes you may have.
  4. We are going to leave the lid bare because this is a summer look after all. Use a "blackened brown" liquid liner on the top lashes and wing out in a thick kitten like wing.
  5. Next take a grayish brown liner and just barely touch the bottom lashes 3/4 of the way in starting from the outer corner.
  6. Apply lip balm with SPF lightly to your lips (acts as a face lotion for your lips).
  7.  Take a bronzer (yes a bronzer!!!) and apply from apples of the cheeks all the way to the temples and on the edges of the hair line in tiny circular motions with a medium face brush.
  8. Finally apply a pinky nude colored lip gloss.
 Products I used:
  • Aussie's Sprunch Hairspray
  • Maybelline New York - Fit me liquid foundation in Classic Ivory (120) with SPF 18
  •  Maybelline New York - Great Lash Mascara (original) in very back (waterproof)
  • Revlon Eye Lash Curlers
  • Maybelline New York - Fit me brinzer in Golden tan (medium bronzer)
  • E.L.F. liquid liner
  • Maybelline New York - unstoppable eyeliner in "pewter"
Hope yall liked the look! Hope your day has been Very Vintage!
So long my darlings.
xoxo,
Cat
